அருள்மிகு மாதேஸ்வரசுவாமி திருக்கோயில் மைசூர் மகாராஜா அவர்களின் குல தெய்வமாக நமது பேரூர் பட்டீசுவரசுவாமி விளங்குகிறார். மைசூர் மகாராஜ தனது நினைவாக ஒரு தெப்பக்குளத்தை நிறுவ எண்ணினார். அதனை தனது மந்திரியான மாதேஸ்வரன் என்பவர் மூலமாக நிறைவேற்றினார். மாதேஸ்வரன் அங்கே அரசுக்கு எதிராக சிவலிங்கத்தை பிரதிஷ்டை செய்து மாதேஸ்வரசுவாமி என்ற பெயரை சூட்டினார். 1600ம் ஆண்டுகளில் இவைகள் நேர்ந்தன.
